Add Entry Interaction

Posted on January 16, 2013

Over the weekend I took a stab at doing something different. I was working on a new iPhone app (more details coming soon) and I needed to prototype the interaction in one of the screens. I couldn’t code this so I decided to try Adobe After Effects. I hadn’t used AF in a couple of years and my skills with that program were a bit rusty. I did, however, manage to produce a quick prototype very close to the interaction I had mind. Check out the video below.

I’m not sure if using AF to prototype interactions will work for all my projects. It definitely takes more time to produce a decent prototype than, say, sketching a couple of screens with transitions. It also relies on having a design ready in a PSD file with the elements you need to animate. However, it is a fun way to explore concepts if the you have the design files and some extra time.
