A couple of weeks ago I went on a short trip to Argentina to visit friends and family. While I was there I realized something I hadn’t noticed before. The country has some amazing script typography used on signs along sidewalks.
After doing some research I learned this aspect of the culture has inspired many type designers. I found a number of fonts designed based on this style including the popular Candy Script and Kewl Script. If this style interests you, I would suggest looking at the work of Alejandro Paul, an Argentine designer and typographer. Myfonts.com’s interview with him was very inspiring.
Here’re some samples of the signs I encountered during my trip. I’m hoping to get better and more varied examples in future trips.
