Amtrak's mobile site

During a recent visit to Portland, OR I had to schedule a train ride back to Eugene and came across the mobile version of Amtrak’s site.
The site is simple and usable and displayed exactly what I was looking for. It took me less than a minute on my iPhone to find the schedule information I needed.
Upon further research, I learned Amtrak is using a third party service for their mobile portal called Usablenet. Usablenet lists other big customers such as Hilton Hotels, Sears, and the University of Illinois using their services.
It’s great to see companies like Amtrak moving to more usable solutions to accommodate customers using mobile devices. This is a good example of how small details such as this mobile version can improve user’s experience. This can greatly impact a company’s image for a regular customer such as myself.
